What worries me is that he’ll be calling me back tomorrow to get my answer, and I haven’t found a single good review about their services to businesses. I thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true, but I was razzle-dazzled by his excellent sales pitch and friendly manner.

So, people, have any of you had anything like a positive experience with Qype?

He was contacted shortly afterward by a ‘customer service’ representative and told that his current subscription was wrong for him and they sold him an alternative subscription. Apparently he could easily cancel the old subscription by logging onto the website, pressing ‘cancel’ and the money would automatically be refunded onto the credit card.

But it seems life isn’t this simple at Qype and despite contacting them daily, they are refusing to refund the first subscription back onto the credit card. The first person I dealt with muttered something about it being a website problem and promised to call me back, which he didn’t. I called them again and they asked me to email confirmation of the cancellation, promising to call me back. They didn’t. After calling them around eight times, I’m currently being told that this is a ‘technical issue’ that they are ‘honestly aware of’ and somehow involves their own employees from Germany not getting back to their colleagues in the London office.

It’s easy to spot when you’re being disregarded and lied to and Qype are a shocking company to deal with in this respect. I do wonder if the agents themselves are aware of how transparent they are. Companies like this are great at perfecting a sales pitch but completely neglect their customers once money has been exchanged or a contract has tied into. What’s more frustrating, provoking a sense of outrage, is the element of dishonesty they have introduced into the proceedings. Perhaps it’s not deliberate on the part of individual agents – no one takes a job intending to lie or promote a product that doesn’t appear to be backed up with substance – but there is clearly a culture of dishonesty and trickery filtering down through the organisation.

Firstly – their customer service is absolute unsatisfactory !

Secondly – I was asked to sign up for a premium account and promised that this does magic. Well, ok, can’t blame anyone for this as that’s what sales people do and I wasn’t expecting too much anyway. But qype is really poor and since there is a company called google offering google places + reviews, qype is absolutely out of date !

The thing that annoys me is that I was told by the sales person that if a minimum of 1,000 people doesn’t click through to my website a year I am entitled to a full refund. That was the reason why I signed up. The other day I read the terms and conditions and it stats the following:

4.10
Money back guarantee (only for Premium Partner registered by telephone). Qype Ltd guarantees
the number of five hundred (500) Guaranteed Potential Customers (GPC) for their Premium
Partner product over the term of 12 months, failure to reach the Guaranteed Potential Customers
purchased over the term of the contract will lead to a full refund. This means that your Business
will be seen a minimum of 500 times

Well, that means – min of 500 people see your ad, no money back !

The sales rep also said qype is looking for a partner and posts only 2 (TWO) premier listings in my area. That was a complete lie. Once I signed up there were around 20 listings in my area. This is a disgusting way of doing business!!

Great, I called up customer service and I was told *indirectly* that I am lying.

In summary – I wasted lots of money. Don’t ever make the same mistake and waste your money on this pointless website. Let qype go bust, they don’t deserve any better.

If you are ok with this, could I get involved with you? To be honest I have tried to rally a lot of ‘misled’ customers together that have complained about Qype. My thoughts are one person on their own is not the force of many.

I was told that as it was all email and verbal and as the office is now closed there is no proof of what was promised.
They do have copies of all the emails that have been sent to you from the office you dealt with as they pulled some up when I was talking to them.

Anonymous, so how would you feel about standing up in court and telling people about this ‘company’?

i have no dispute wiht any emails they sent to me or i to them, the crux of my complaint is tha their product was deliberately mis-sold and misrepresented by their sales rep

will keep you posted – if they fail to cancel the contract at my request then i will take them to small claims court as there were three of us in the office when the sales rep explained the review system so its not as if the sales rep can claim that it was their word against mine and nobody else witnessed it

I spoke to someone at Qype head office, she asked me to send ALL emails both sent and recieved. Which I did. I was told that there would be a meeting on monday to look at my case and they would ring Monday. They have just rung me, Wednesday. Anyway the lady, VJ, was very appologetic but said there is nothing they can do, as I had clicked the link say ing it was for 6 months. I again explained that it was what I was told to do by Lisa Gale, and to ignore the 6 months bit as it was only 3 month contract, but they needed the link clicked to activate. I asked about the promises I had been told, ie about the no login in for customers to leave reviews. I was told this could not happen. Not what I was told. So the bottom line is I still have to pay for something that is of no use to me.

The best of it all is, the Crawley office has now been closed and the sales reps gone. Why? I can only imaging because of all the complaints they have had about their underhand tactics.

Steve, could you let me know how you get on, or indeed if anyone else here feels they have been treated unfairly let me know.If we all stick together and get something in mass surely they can’t ignore it. I just feel so angry by the whole thing, in this day and age it is hard enough working to earn a crust without a shodddy company like this taking my hard earned.

needless to say if they had told me that to leave the review you would have to login or create a qype account then i would have never have agreed to enter into the contract

as for the seo – my own site is coming up well enough under its own natural aspiration and all the seo measures weve taken ourselves – and guess what … not a qype reference to be seen in the first two pages of google search listings

Seriously people DO NOT get involved with these people, they are a shambles.
